John Cullen Murphy was the creator of the comic strip Big Ben Bolt before he was hand selected in 1970 by Hal Foster to assist and then eventually take over the Prince Valiant Sunday strip, which he would continue until his retirement in 2004. His stunning realism was a perfect fit to follow Foster and it shows here in this painting. Watercolor on watercolor paper. Framed to 12" x 16". Signed by Murphy.
