Classic Lou Fine shark coverMany Golden Age collectors and fans know the name Lou Fine, as he is one of the most daring and talented cover artists of the period, and his work on Hit Comics #5 only serves to reinforce that fact. The Red Bee battles a sea creature in an underwater scene that is beautiful and terrifying at the same time, Fine’s forceful yet detailed approach really shines on this GA classic cover. This issue of Hit Comics features additional work from some of the standout names of the era; Dan Zolernowich, Nick Cardy, and S.M. Iger all contribute their notable talents to this awesome anthology. Golden Age bidders are doubtless eagerly awaiting their chance to bid on this classic treasure. This 6.5 copy is quite appealing, the back background does not reveal much in the way of wear and tear, and the central image of the Red Bee and his aquatic nemesis retains its vibrant color palette. With just over 40 copies listed on the census, this copy is around the middle of the pack. Opportunities to bid on popular Golden Age books are becoming scarcer all the time as collectors are reluctant to part with these hard-to-find commodities of yesteryear. Any books with Lou Fine covers are definite targets for Golden Age fans, and this issue is no exception.
