The King cover (5/40)
Nova Scotia Copy
Flash Comics was used as a testing ground for DC's new hero ideas, many of which failed to tickle the fancy of readers of the era, but these one-offs and minor players would go on to become objects of interest to collectors who are drawn by the charming conceits of these also-ran heros. Take for example, the King, cover star of Flash Comics #5, relatively obscure to comic fans the character has survived into the Modern Age, proving that even the most minor players in the world of comics have their devoted fan base.
QES has cited the preferred staple placement, perfect cover edges, exemplary interior, and exceptional spine of this book, which are just a few of the admirable qualities of this Golden Age treasure. This book also hails from the highly respected Nova Scotia pedigree, and sports the brown CGC pedigree label to prove it. Although The Flash is not the featured player on this spiffy cover, The King, Johnny Thunder, and Hawkman make up for his absence. There is only one copy higher up the census, and just over 30 copies registered overall to make this a very desirable and rare commodity that should be a popular item at auction.
