The next morning, Dan recognizes Deathwatch presiding over the grand opening of his office building. While Deathwatch receives a financial update on his criminal ventures from Beck, Dan arrives at the building and flirts with Renée. That night, on a date with Renée, Dan's efforts to investigate Deathwatch are interrupted when Stacy encounters them. Later, Dan calls Renée at her apartment. Deathwatch, who has bugged his employees' phones, learns of the relationship and sends ninjas to kill Renée.
