Edgar Church / Mile High Copy
Highest GradedAnother insane anthology book from the good old days of the Golden Age, Fantastic Comics #8 features an uncredited cover where barrel-chested he-man Samson closes in on a demonic villain as he is about to force a woman’s face into a red-hot mask, no doubt the origin of the pile of skulls laying on the floor. The unbridled lunacy of the GA is why collectors have so much fun delving into the mysterious and bizarre corners of the early days of the comic book industry. The book is stuffed with a variety of tales, with varying levels of artwork, and a huge amount of ingenuity. The rules had not yet been written, the tropes and plots had not been agreed upon, and the delicious selection of choices made one’s head spin, it's no wonder there are so many fervent and loyal collectors of the rare treats from the Golden Age, it is pure, unbridled fun. Single highest-graded copy? Check. Mile High pedigree? Check. Jon Berk collection? Check. What more could you ask from a Golden Age comic? This book has credentials for days, an amazing cover, shimmering hues, and perfect construction. The provenance is to die for, and with awesome interiors bursting with art from Alex Blum, George Tuska, Fred Schwab, and Henry Kiefer, it just does not get better than this when you want to talk about Golden Age comics. You know you love it, bid now!
