DESCRIPTION
white pgs, QES Certified: Criteria met: beautiful spine + deep color strike (red, yellow & green); only 1 higher
1st full Wolverine app; Marvel Value Stamp #54 (Shanna); Herb Trimpe cover & art; COMIC BOOK IMPACT rating of 10 (CBI)
This issue marks Wolverine’s first full appearance as the breakout character of Marvel's Bronze Age—as seen when a copy of Incredible Hulk #181 became the first Bronze Age book to break the $100,000 sales mark. Wolverine would go on to become of the biggest pop-culture icons of the past fifty years, with the character reviving the X-Men title as he joined the mutant super team in the ’70s. The ensuing decades have seen Wolverine becoming one of Marvel's most potent weapons in creating hot spin-off titles and guest turns. Wolverine also continues to rule the cinemas, with fans already buzzing over Hugh Jackman’s hotly anticipated return to the character in 2024’s Deadpool 3.

When you’ve been in the comic business as long as we have, you will get to see many copies of this top Bronze Age book, but it is not often you will come across an example this bright and clean, even at a 9.8 grade, there is an exceptional quality about the color strike on this QES-certified book, every small detail is impeccable, the purple mountaintops in the background are sublime, and the hues of the Hulk’s emerald torso are as exemplary as the flesh tones of Wolverine’s arms. Add in the solid, balanced red wash that gives off a glow and you have a truly beautiful copy of one of the most sought after comics around. Bronze Age keys were once easily affordable, but as time goes on, certain milestones are hitting heights previously only ascended by Silver and Gold books. If you are a serious investment collector and have not yet obtained a copy of this book, you need to take the plunge, and this is a perfect opportunity.
