After two issues of showcasing Golden Age heroes, All Star Comics contributed even more to comics history by featuring the origin and first appearance of the Justice Society of America. The official date is November 22nd, 1940, as the heroes get together to each tell a story about their most exciting adventure. By the time that they're done, the FBI is asking for assistance and we're looking at the formation of the first-ever superhero team.

This historic gathering would eventually lead to the creation of the Justice League, the Avengers, the X-Men, and more. The book's classic cover by E.E. Hibbard showcases these pioneering Golden Age heroes, featuring the Atom, Sandman, Spectre, Flash, Hawkman, Dr. Fate, Green Lantern, and Hour Man. (Johnny Thunder also attends, but he wasn't really invited.)

Standing alone as the second-best example of this book on the CGC census, this exemplary copy depicts the first appearance of the Justice Society of America in all their glory. The colors beam with only the slightest hint of age, which is quite a notable feat for a comic with an 80-year vintage. Considering everything that could have transpired in that time, this book is practically a superhero unto itself. The QES sticker further quantifies this example of All Star #3 as a comic that will be the subject of heavyweight bidding as we expect to see a record set.

Overstreet Guide 2020 NM- (9.2) value = $142,000.
