Kentucky CollectionStar Sapphire is a character with roots in the Golden Age of comics, first appearing in All-Flash Comics #32, the villainess arrives from the 7th Dimension and attempts to eradicate human life by destroying all the plants on Earth. Reborn in the Silver Age as Carol Ferris, the love interest of Hal Jordan, Sapphire makes her return in Green Lantern #16 as a vessel for the Zamarons, a race of female aliens who are hellbent on proving the inferiority of the male gender. In this issue Star Sapphire takes on the Emerald Knight twice, beating him easily in round one and losing in round two, after which she is stripped of her powers and returned to normal with no memory of her recent transformation, but the character would continue to return and challenge the Lantern over the years in various host bodies and identities.
