Black Canary has never been hotter since appearing on the Arrow TV series, and this book is one of the most important in the history of the character, as this is the heroine's first cover appearance and first solo adventure. Beginning life as a mere mortal with hand-to-hand combat skills and a penchant for undercover investigating, the Black Canary would go on to develop a "canary cry" capable of incapacitating foes and shattering objects, the character would go through several permutations before joining the Arrowverse, bringing heat to this valuable and collectible issue.
This comic features the first-ever work by artist Carmine Infantino, a draftsman whose name would become synonymous with the Flash in the Silver Age, but in this issue, he was tasked with illustrating the Black Canary, a heroine who, like Infantino would prove to have staying power. Like many of the Flash Comics in this Event Auction, this book is extremely rare, with just over sixty copies noted, as an additional feature the book comes to us from the Ohio pedigree, this comic sits way up on the census, with only five others attaining higher grades. Last seen in the DCEU’s “Birds of Prey” this first cover appearance of Black Canary is an issue that has been on a consistent upward trajectory, making this a great opportunity to obtain one of these rare books for your collection.
