Original color copies of John Romita Jr.'s original Dazzler concept art w/correspondence; 1979; +bonus Weirdworld items

-NOT ORIGINAL ART-

Marvel's The Dazzler was originally conceived as a commercial tie in with Casablanca Records and Filmworks, who were going to use the character in a feature film. In the original concept artwork artist John Romita Jr. modeled the character after Grace Jones, this was eventually changed at the request of Filmworks, who wanted the character to resemble Bo Derek. Both the Casablanca and Filmworks tie-ins fell apart, but the changes to the Dazzler remained.

We have here 2 color copies of illustrations by Romita Jr. of the original "Grace Jones" version of character, in one of them she is surrounded by The X-Men. Both date from before Dazzler's first appearance in X-Men #130, which was dated February 1980. There is an accompanying letter from Columbia Pictures Marketing which refers to the Disco character tentatively titled "The Dazzler" and is dated May 10, 1979.

Also included is another letter referencing the Marvel comic Weirdworld, with a synopsis of the book, along with 3 color copies of Weirdworld material.

The color prints are in various states of condition, the Dazzler prints have pin holes, light discoloration and light creasing. The Weirdworld prints have some fold lines and other minor creasing.
