Edgar Church / Mile High Copy
Highest GradedGood Girl Art has long been a cult favorite subset of comics collecting, as the largely male funnybook fanbase can't help but fall in love with the curvy sexy-yet-fresh-faced look of the subgenre's cover models, while ladies, gay collectors, and feminists respond to the surprisingly tough, empowered, athletic look of the no-nonsense dames gracing most GGA classics. Where the 90s Bad Girl Art craze was all about T&A, these classics were about legs, curves, and danger, with a helpful dose of strength, drama, and derring-do. This extremely rare example is among the most sought-after, as it also features WWII cover iconography and a startlingly dynamic cover composition.

As is to be expected from a Golden Age comic bearing the famed Edgar Church/Mile High pedigree, this is the single highest-graded copy of Spitfire #133, the last issue in the title’s run. The heady mixture of GGA and WWII elements makes this book a true cult comic collectors go gaga over. The condition is simply beautiful, preserved throughout the decades with nary a ding or dent. Mile High books are a gift to the hobby, handed down to devoted collectors as though they traveled through time, straight off a newsstand into a CGC slab. There are plenty of big-name keys in this Event Auction, but this underrated book promises to be a popular lot that will see plenty of bidding action.
