Bob Kane/Jerry Robinson cover/art; 1st (and only) GA Scarecrow coverThe Golden Age Scarecrow was created through a collaboration between Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson and the macabre villain only made two appearances before being shelved until his Silver Age revival. Detective Comics #73 features the second of these appearances and bears the distinction of being the only cover to feature the character in the era.

Hardcore fans of the Scarecrow take heed, this incredibly rare book is now available at auction once again. The one and only Golden Age appearance of the terrifying villain is quite hard to find, as there are fewer than 100 copies on the census. This CVA-certified example is in very impressive condition, boasting bright reds and yellows that contrast strongly with the purples and blues of the two main figures. The comic is structurally sound, with a rigid spine and a clean perimeter that has withstood the test of time. The book does not show up at auction with regularity, so, if you are in the market for a copy, you should seriously consider bidding come hammer time.
