Edgar Church / Mile High CopyThe Three Dimwits, Winky, Blinky, and Noddy were comedic sidekicks added to the Flash mythos to provide the hero with a new jolt of life, and this Martin Naydel cover depicts the trio stewing in a boiling pot of water, one of the stereotypical cartoon depictions of encounters with native cannibal tribes. The Flash adventure in this issue is titled "The Sap of the Sterdisnats Tree", and revolves around a quinine substitute found on a remote island in the Pacific. The Naydel approach displays a conscious attempt to rebrand the Flash to appeal to younger readers to expand sales.
