Phantom Lady comics of the 1940s have become more infamous for their bondage covers and suggestive themes than the actual stories. Fans credit the passionate art of Jack Kamen in the title's later issues, as the early master made sure that the title's Good Girl heroines stood out on the newsstands. Copies of Phantom Lady have become increasingly rare, with the climbing price of auction sales reflecting the extreme demand for this formerly overlooked title.
A nice-upper-mid grade copy of Phantom Lady #23, with vibrant colors on the paper cover, and solid construction all around. For those who are not aware, copies of Phantom Lady have been some of the most desirable books in the history of Golden Age Good Girl Art, and auction prices have reflected the extreme demand for copies of this once overlooked title, thanks in no small part to the stellar work of Matt Baker.
