Irwin Hasen cvr/art; origin & 1st app. of Harlequin (Molly Mayne)
Before there was Harley Quinn, DC writer Robert Kanigher came up with her antecedent, The Harlequin, another unhinged female villain whose romantic intentions were misdirected at the Golden Age Green Lantern. While not quite as intense as the modern-day Harley’s affections for The Joker, this blueprint went to great lengths to draw the attention of her hero crush, to the point of hiring henchmen and planning a heist that quickly goes off the rails. Alan Scott’s GL intervenes and saves the day, but the wheels had been set in motion, carving a path for the phenomenon of today’s Harley Quinn, beloved cosplay subject, and star of several DCEU vehicles.

This classic DC comic, All-American Comics #89, from September 1947 earned a 7.5 from CGC. Along with its off-white to white pages, this is a marvelous condition for a comic that's nearly 75 years old, let alone a key book with a fantastic first appearance. Irwin Hasen's hilarious cover highlights The Harlequin's entrance. The red background and the black card appear so rich in contrast with each other. With only minor blemishes, this is an amazing copy for investment or display.
