Jack Kirby cover/art; origin & 1st app. of Dr. Doom, bondage cover, Dr. Doom movie rumors! Comic Book Impact rating of 9 (CBI)
Dr. Doom made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #5, creating an instant top Silver Age collectible with the emergence of one of Marvel's most important villains. The deathly countenance of the Latverian ruler has roots in the Golden Age, of course. Jack Kirby's design (and Stan Lee's complex characterization) still made Victor Von Doom one of the most influential pop-culture figures of the past 60 years.

That includes Doom's role as a clear inspiration in the creation of Darth Vader. The upcoming Marvel Studios revival of the big-screen Fantastic Four is one of the most hotly anticipated projects in the history of superhero films, with fans eager to see Von Doom's return to the official Marvel Movie family.

"Meet... Doctor Doom!" proclaims the cover of issue #5 of "The World's Greatest Comic Magazine.” This classic Stan Lee and Jack Kirby issue introduced Marvel’s greatest supervillain of all time, Doctor Doom, as well as advertising the upcoming Incredible Hulk #1 and publishing a letter from future Marvel Editor-in-Chief, Roy Thomas. The FF had formidable foes before Doom, the Mole Man, the Skrulls, and Namor the Sub-Mariner, but Doctor Doom turned the team into a supernova. He was a sensational hit, and would immediately return in Fantastic Four #6, teaming up with Namor. Shortly after, he would cross over into Amazing Spider-Man #5, proving the strength of his villainy and staying power. He would go on to become the primary archvillain of the Marvel Universe for decades and was immediately iconic.

This copy earned an amazing 6.5 CGC Universal Grade, with white pages. The central image of Doctor Doom is crisp and clean, and Kirby’s illustrations of the Fantastic Four all shine here. By this point, the team has adorned their classic costumes and mastered their powers, and are all working together to save the world. With the Fantastic Four confirmed to be joining the MCU soon, all FF key issues have been rising dramatically in value. Within the next few years, audiences internationally will know the true might of Doctor Doom, as well as the excitement and fun of the Fantastic Four. A 6.0 CGC copy recently sold for over $24,000. This is an all-time historic key issue that will always be in high demand.
