WWII machine gun cvr; fifth appearance of Catwoman (new costume) + classic WWII concentration camp story (Batman breaks into Nazi concentration camp & frees prisoners)

Batman #15 offers both a classic Catwoman story and a wild wartime cover featuring Batman as he's never been seen before! Jack Burnley's illustration has a gleeful Batman blasting away on his mounted machine gun while the Boy Wonder gleefully feeds him ammunition. Of course, much has been made about Batman's refusal to use firearms over his long career. (The Caped Crusader famously shocked fans by swinging into action on the cover of Detective #33 with a holstered gun on his utility belt.) Rules are made to be broken, though, and gunplay was quickly granted in the name of promoting war bonds and stamps. (The cause is revisited inside with the grim tale of "The Two Futures," as one ends with Batman and Robin executed by conquering Nazis.)

There's also "Your Face is Your Fortune" as a pivotal Catwoman story. For starters, the editors have agreed on how to spell "Catwoman" as she makes her fifth appearance. She's also still sporting her full cat headwear while stealing from Gotham City society, This time, she's posing as cosmetologist Elva Barr while using her business to impersonate wealthy women. That's before Catwoman is tempted to go straight after Bruce Wayne begins publicly romancing her Elva persona. Sadly, her heart will be broken when Catwoman disguises herself as Wayne's other love interest Linda Page. A fooled Bruce explains to "Linda" that he's only pretending to be in love with Elva as a favor to Batman. This all leads to the first time that Batman actually takes Catwoman into custody.
