Bilbo and Gollum!In 1989 Eclipse published Charles Dixon, Sean Deming and David Wenzel's adaptation of The Hobbit, still the only officially licensed comic book adaptation of any of the works of J.R.R. Tolkien. Wenzel has supervised revised editions in 2006 and again in 2012, both of which included him creating new pages and redrawing existing pages. This page is from one of those revised editions. Bilbo and Gollum's first encounter is expanded into a large, almost splash panel, with inset panels to emphasize the mood and add to the drama of the encounter. Beautifully rendered by Wenzel, with glorious color and texture to his watercolor. Mixed media on illustration board. Art is in excellent condition. Signed by Wenzel
