The July 1941 issue of Weird Tales is an absolute classic. Featuring a strange, surreal, and horrifying robot cover by Bok, declaring "I Killed Hitler", this is an iconic issue. This pulp includes the second of two halves of "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" by H.P. Lovecraft. Not published during Lovecraft's lifetime and being one of his last major works ever released, this story follows one man's terrifying descent following his obsessive quest to investigate one of his ancestors.
"The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" also works within Lovecraft's larger Cthulhu mythos and even introduced certain Cthulhu-like entities. Lovecraft would go on to become synonymous with Weird Tales, being Weird Tales' most award-winning and prestigious writer as his legacy flourished for decades to come. This issue also features work by Seabury Quinn and Clark Ashton Smith, the most popular Weird Tales writers at the time. The July 1941 Weird Tales would make a great addition to any pulp, Weird Tales, or horror collection.
This copy of the July 1941 Weird Tales pulp is in beautiful Fine 6.0 condition. Containing off-white to cream pages and a complete spine with some stress and fading, this copy would be perfect for reading or displaying on a shelf. The colors of the eerie Bok cover appear so sharp. There is a 1 inch spine split at the top of the back cover, being the only significant defect on this otherwise very crisp book. Lovecraft Weird Tales issues are some of the most sought-after pulps, and this copy will be the envy of pulp and horror collectors alike.
