Anybody who grew up in the 1980s understands the significance of this comic book to collectors and investors. This rare example of a Copper Age Classic is also the Action #1, the Showcase #4, and Amazing Fantasy #15 of the '80s. Self-published by scrappy creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, this book contains the origin stories of the Ninja Turtles and the Splinter, plus the introduction of Shredder and the Foot.
The moody cover (an homage to Frank Miller's Ronin mini-series) features deep blacks and bloody reds as our heroes stand ready against the forces of evil. Of course, this all before the Playmates toy company licensed the cultish comic. Eastman and Laird's characters were soon to be toned down and made more child-friendly. In these early books, however, they pulled no punches on the way to becoming top pop-culture icons. The time is nigh to grab your own copy before the price soars once again.

When a couple of friends jokingly published their tongue-in-cheek comic with a ridiculous title featuring mutated turtle ninjas, nobody could have predicted the birth of a multi-million dollar franchise. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would go on to become a favorite of children across the globe, while still appealing to adult readers thanks to the series’ origins in the independent comic movement of the mid-80s. This is an amazing 9.4 copy of TMNT #1 hailing from the Quentin Eastman collection that was signed and sketched by co-creator Kevin Eastman. It cannot be stressed enough; this is an important late Bronze Age key that just keeps seeing prices go up with no end in sight.
