Archie Comics #1 is a vital part of pop culture, launching eight decades of Archie Andrews’ solo book. The comic is also notable as a notoriously scarce title despite debuting with an enormous print run. Top-tier Archie collectors know this classic debut is considered one of the "black holes" of the collecting community, with an Archie #1 seldom seen again once it's brought into a collection. This might even be the single most difficult major Golden Age key to obtain after Pep Comics #22 (where Archie and his pals made their first appearances). This book never fails to elicit excitement when copies surface at auction.

One of the rarest Golden Age key issues, Archie Comics #1, was released in Winter 1942 by MLJ Magazines and gave America's favorite teenager his own series. This copy earned a 3.0 CGC Universal Grade and has off-white to white pages. The cover is detached and there is a small piece of tape on the interior cover, but these minor condition issues do not detract from the beauty and historic importance of this book. Only 69 copies are recorded on the CGC Census, making any Archie #1 an incredible find. The classic Bob Montana cover is stunning, with crisp colors and featuring a beautiful image of the classic Riverdale teens, Betty, Veronica, Archie, and Jughead. Although there is minor chipping and stress along the perimeter, it does not distract or interrupt the amusing scene at center. A CGC 4.0 Archie Comics #1 recently sold for $48,000. A major key like this is always in demand and increasing in value, and would make an exciting addition to any comic collection or investment portfolio.
