Original prop 'Waiting for the Sun' LP jacket from The Doors (Tri-Star, 1991); w/LOA
From Oliver Stone's classic biopic The Doors (Tri-Star, 1991), starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison and Meg Ryan as his girlfriend Pamela Courson comes this production made LP jacket, replicating The Doors 'Waiting for the Sun' album cover with the actors from the film replacing the members of the band, Kilmer as Morrison, Kyle MacLachlan as Ray Manzarek, Kevin Dillon as John Densmore, and Frank Whaley as Robbie Krieger. The album cover is in excellent condition.
Excerpted from the letter of authenticity from David DuBois;
"I worked in the motion picture business for close to 30 years, and The Doors movie was by far the most grueling schedule of any film I ever worked on. During the several months run of the film I became friends with the prop assistant named Tim Wiles. I did some favors for him over the course of the film and on the second to last day of filming, I asked Tim for a little payback.I had my sights on a few key props from the film. He kindly gifted me several prop items from the movie, including a small stack of the prop album covers provided for this auction.
The next day I gave a cover to each one of my fellow crew members in the lighting department. The cover in the auction is my personal copy I’ve kept in my office closet for 32 years."
Also included is a signed letter of authenticity David DuBois, who worked on the film as Best Boy Electric.
