This is the notorious final issue of Captain America's Weird Tales, aka Captain America Comics, for about four years before a return in the 1950s. The complete absence of the First Avenger on the cover of this book should serve as an indication that the times were indeed a-changing, and super-heroes were a dying breed. That does not necessarily mean that this book is insignificant. Quite the contrary, this interesting bit of comic history stands as an intriguing example of the changing times, highlighting the five or six years that cape books lay dormant while other genres took over the medium. Despite a short-lived attempt to revive the character, Captain America would have to wait until his reunion with Jack Kirby in the Silver Age to rise to prominence once again.
