Who knew that the need for a faddish, sci-fi based villain would result in storylines and mythology spanning across decades? It wasn't as though Lee and Kirby were consciously creating a pop-culture world in the rocky days of early Silver Age Marvel, they were just trying to make fun comics that would sell and attract readers -- but, by following the hyperactive lead of their imaginative audience, they developed a language and style and mythos that carries on to this day, in the movies and beyond. This first appearance of the Skrulls hints at the grandeur and go-for-broke glee of the Marvel Universe to come.
This is a really impressive copy of FF #2, the bright yellow background contrasts perfectly with the action-packed scene happening on this cover illustration. Enhancing the wow factor of this really well-preserved 9.2 copy is an autograph by the book’s co-creator, Marvel Main Man Numero Uno, Stan Lee. The far-flung implications of the Skrull’s history and their importance to the MCU’s space opera aspirations make this issue an important collectible key in the FF canon. The construction of this copy has survived the past 60 years with flying colors, this book has been steadily rising in value, so, such a wonderful copy is likely to see heavy competition come auction time.
