Spider-Man's first appearance in Amazing Fantasy #15 was an overnight sensation, leading to a hurriedly prepared solo title from co-creators Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. (Marvel still brought in the top-selling Fantastic Four on the cover as insurance.) The book remains one of the cornerstones of comic collecting--featuring the first appearance of J. Jonah Jameson as one of the most iconic supporting characters in the history of comics. The book is also notable for including The Chameleon as Spidey’s first supervillain. The shape-shifting spy has been one of the major missing figures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and is finally set to make his big-screen debut in this year’s Kraven the Hunter film.

Thanks to the massive success of Spidey’s silver screen reboot in the MCU, the Web-Slinger’s already exceptionally high-profile stardom has gone into, and beyond, the stratosphere. Peter Parker’s alter ego is easily one of the most recognizable pop culture phenomenons of all time, well past the world of comics alone, and into the global zeitgeist. When it comes to advice on investing in comics some books are automatic no-brainers, AMS #1 is one of those books, whether they are in dizzyingly high grade, or practically dissolving in your hands, this comic is an ironclad asset. This particular FN copy boasts some impressive traits, vivid colors, a solid spine, and sturdy construction all around, presenting as higher than its designated grade, this is a recommended purchase for those on the hunt for a very admirable copy of a timeless classic.

Overstreet Guide 2021 FN (6.0) value = $8,700
