Rockford CopyThis is quite the impressive grab bag of Golden Age thrills and chills, not only does it contain the first appearance of Superboy, but also the swan song for Spectre, who would not be seen again in comics for over two decades. Throw in Aquaman and a pretty cool Green Arrow cover by Maurice Del Bourgo and you have one keen collectible.Hailing from the Rockford pedigree, the first appearance of Superboy is an important Golden Age key, which is fairly rare, with only 83 copies registered on the census. This 9.0 sits pretty close to the top of the CGC boards with five copies graded higher, making this one of the finest copies around. The colors on this cover are vivid and newsstand fresh, while the structural integrity is sound, and the overall eye appeal is top shelf. Thanks to the success of the DCEU’s ”Titans” series, the modern-day iteration of Superboy, known only as Conner in the series, has helped drive renewed interest in this issue, leading to an upward trend in value.
