Ken Kelly painting; cover colors; 1975; image size 19.5" x 24.5"

Beautiful, fully painted cover colors by acclaimed illustrator Ken Kelly. Kelly painted the artwork from Will Eisner's original line art over bluelines, Eisner's line art is on printed on an acetate overlay. Kelly adds sensuality to this depiction of The Spirit, confronting his cadre of female friends and foes, including P'Gell, Thorn Strand, Ellen Dolan, Sand Saref, and Satin. In true collaboration you can see on the overlay of Eisner's drawing where Kelly scratched away some of the art allowing the color to define some of the figures, softening the drawing. Art is in very good condition, there is light wear to the edges of the painting.
