Moldoff, Flessel, Baily, Hibbard art (Summer 1940)This landmark anthology comic features, nine, count them, NINE superheroes in this first issue. More than half of the crew would go on to form the Justice Society two issues later. The endearing cover dazzled the reader with four scenes from a variety of tales featuring this stellar ensemble. The Spectre's bust-out panel was taken from his appearance within this very issue, while the Flash's explosive panel was taken from Flash Comics 1. Scour the archives long enough and you will find the Sandman panel was taken from Adventure Comics 51, and Ultra-Man was swiped from the cover of All-American Comics 11. It's a veritable superhero mix tape, so fresh, so ill.
