Sheldon Moldoff pencils and inks; 7/10/1966 Sunday strip; image size 19" x 13.5"
Featuring the Penguin and Beulah (Harley Quinn prototype!)From July 7th, 1966, the 7th Batman Sunday strip from the 1966 relaunch. Moldoff only drew the first story arc of the Sunday strips, which concluded with this strip, exceptional content and execution from Moldoff, featuring the Dynamic Duo thwarting the scheme of the Penguin and his sidekick Beulah, recognized as a prototype, both in look and personality, of Harley Quinn. These strips are extraordinarily rare, we could not find evidence of a Moldoff Sunday having ever sold, or being in a collection. Pen and ink. Art is in very good condition, there is some light staining along the edges not affecting the artwork.
Artist Information
Moldoff is best known for his early work on DC's Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and was one of Bob Kane's primary "ghost artists" on Batman. He co-created the Batman villains Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, the second Clayface, and Bat-Mite, as well as the original heroes Bat-Girl, Batwoman, and Ace the Bat-Hound.
