classic Bernard Baily Spectre cvr/art; 1st app. of Dr. Fate (Kent Nelson), 1st Wotan & Inza, 4th Spectre

More Fun Comics #33 has earned its enduring reputation as one of the top artifacts of the Golden Age of Comics. First, there's Bernard Baily's classic cover art for the Spectre's fourth appearance, revered by collectors and scholars as among the most evocative and memorable of all DC imagery. This beloved comic then becomes even more collectible with the first appearance of Dr. Fate. The debut of DC's resident sorcerer helped solidify the company's stable of mystical and moody characters. Without the dark mystery and dramatic origin of Dr. Fate, none of the Bronze Age's occult wizardry would have been possible — with the character also becoming a vital part of DC's storytelling throughout the ensuing decades.

Of course, the Spectre has also spent decades as a fan favorite, with fans currently anticipating the character finally making a big-screen debut as part of the developing DC Extended Universe. This legendary book remains a top investment and beloved title for all serious collectors of the Golden Age.
_______________________________________________

With only 50 copies of this comic recorded on the CGC census it can be safe to say that each and every time this book comes to market Golden Age DC fans will take notice, The Spectre was a big draw in the era and has continued to enjoy cult status throughout the decades. It is likely there will be a Spectre vehicle in the future, be it a TV series or DCEU entry, making all of the character’s rare early issues worth keeping an eye on. This FN copy presents strong colors and stable binding, with any imperfections remaining well away from the gripping central image. The memorable Barnard Baily cover is a testament to the dark feel of DC’s pulpy output during the anthology era that helped them stay on top of the pack and made this book a cult classic.
