A 15% BUYER'S PREMIUM WILL BE ADDED TO THIS ITEM AT CONCLUSION OF THE AUCTION white pages Steve Ditko cvr/art; 1st app. of the Question Boston Copy Highest GradedCurrently owned by DC, the Blue Beetle has a long and storied past that is interwoven throughout the history of the comic book industry since the 1930s. Starting life in Fox Comics’ Mystery Men Comics #1 the Blue Beetle was a hot ticket item in the era, even enjoying some success as a radio star with his own series. During the post-war hero bust, BB found himself languishing in obscurity until Fox sold their properties to Charlton Comics in the 50s where he would be revived for a short period by the house staff to some small success. The character would bounce around Charlton for some time before Steve Ditko rebooted the series in 1967 which would go on to become a cult classic of sorts thanks to the loyal fans of the beloved artist.
The announcement of the inclusion of the Blue Beetle in the DCEU has brought renewed attention to the first issue of Ditko’s Charlton iteration of the well-traveled crimefighter and this pristine 9.8 copy hailing from the Boston pedigree, is one of the highest-graded examples out there, only one of seven to achieve a 9.8 grade. The book has no visible signs of wear and is bright, sharp, and solid in every way. This is a nice prospective investment book for those looking to cash in on the imminent release of the Blue Beetle feature film.
