Jack Kirby cover/art; origin & 1st app. of Dr. Doom, bondage cover, Dr. Doom movie rumors! Comic Book Impact rating of 9 (CBI)
Dr. Doom made his first appearance in Fantastic Four #5, creating an instant top Silver Age collectible with the emergence of one of Marvel's most important villains. The deathly countenance of the Latverian ruler has roots in the Golden Age, of course. Jack Kirby's design (and Stan Lee's complex characterization) still made Victor Von Doom one of the most influential pop-culture figures of the past 60 years.

That includes Doom's role as a clear inspiration in the creation of Darth Vader. The upcoming Marvel Studios revival of the big-screen Fantastic Four is one of the most hotly anticipated projects in the history of superhero films, with fans eager to see Von Doom's return to the official Marvel Movie family.

With only three copies ranking higher on the census, this immaculate Fantastic Four #5 is one of the finest examples known. There are rumors swirling around about the FF and Dr. Doom’s imminent appearance in the MCU, which makes this book a potential goldmine. The much-used early Marvel Age muted background motif is on full display here, which is used to draw attention to the heroic figures in the foreground. But none loom larger than Vinctor von Doom in the center, his green cowl and armor standing out in perfect detail. The solid construction of this book, down to the vibrant colors and robust spine make this a certified high-level target at auction.

Overstreet Guide 2022 NM- (9.2) value = $75,000.
