Stan Lee devised Iron Man as a creative challenge, seeking to invent a hero that embodied all the things that his youthful readership rebelled against. Thus was born Tony Stark, a shamelessly capitalist businessman whose fortune was built on war machinery and weaponry, a daring riposte to all the political trends prevalent in the late 1960s among Marvel's largely adolescent male readership. This first solo issue of Iron Man was an overnight smash, and with a cover graced with the visionary art of master draftsman Gene Colan, it is no wonder. The incredible success of the MCU has finally made Iron Man a top-tier character, but longtime comic fans have always known that this is one of Marvel's most complex and fascinating heroes.

ComicConnect is proud to present one of the three highest-graded copies of Iron Man #1. This Mint 9.9 copy boasts clean, white pages, and is truly an impeccable example of a Silver Age comic book. Fans of Tony Stark’s alter ego take heed as this comic is sure to be a hotly contested item in our Event Auction. As one would expect from a Mint comic, there are no imperfections of note to report here, the construction, spine, corners, colors, and interior pages are all simply pristine. Since the introduction of the Multiverse in the MCU, it is unknown if Iron Man will ever appear in the cinematic juggernaut again, but the door remains open and rumors continue to swirl, making this a potentially savvy investment book.
