Frank Frazetta pencils; preliminary drawing w/Roy Krenkel illustration on the reverse; undated; image size 5" x 9" & 8.25" x 9.75"The best of both worlds! The front of this page is a preliminary illustration by Frank Frazetta, likely from his short lived attempt to get the Ambi Dexter newspaper strip off the ground, it features a woman remarkably similar to the character from the strip. The back of the page is filled edge to edge with a historical scene by Roy Krenkel, wonderfully executed in his unmistakable style. Having two pieces by this pair of legendary illustrators on the same page is very rare, the two were good friends and did many appearances together, it's likely that the Frazetta drawing was already done and Krenkel was asked to add something and this was the what was available for him to draw on. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition. Initialed by Frazetta on his side.

Frank Frazetta was an American fantasy and science fiction artist, noted for comic books, paperback book covers, paintings, posters, LP record album covers and other media. He is often referred to as the "Godfather" of Fantasy Art, and one of the most renowned illustrators of the 20th century. He was also the subject of a 2003 documentary "Painting with Fire".
