Giant-Size X-Men #1 features the first appearance of Storm, Nightcrawler, Colossus, & Thunderbird as they join the X-Men lineup, and shook up the entire comics industry after hitting the racks in the summer of 1975. Len Wein and Dave Cockrum introduced a whole new team of mutant heroes to take over Marvel’s long-running title, with the characters debuting here before taking over the regular X-Men title with issue #94. (Future breakout star Wolverine had already appeared in the pages of Incredible Hulk, of course.)
Numerous X-titles would prosper over the decades, and it was no surprise when the super team was chosen to launch the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Investors can count on a bright big-screen future for the X-Men, as well. Fans have been thrilled to see Marvel Studios retrieving the rights to the beloved characters. Deadpool & Wolverine went on to become one of 2024's biggest hits, as well as setting a box-office record for any X-Men movie. Marvel has since announced a new X-Men franchise as more mutants return for 2026's Avengers: Doomsday, further suggesting that the investment value of these perpetually hot issues will only continue to grow.

This copy of Giant-Size X-Men #1 earned a 9.4 CGC Universal Grade and has white pages. At a 9.4 this copy is close to perfection, and it shows. The iconic Gil Kane/Dave Cockrum cover is truly stunning here, with an immaculate background and logo, as well as sharp vibrant illustrations of both the new and old X-Men. The high-grade condition is matched only by the historic value and significance of the book itself. With the X-Men confirmed to be joining the MCU, and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X making a surprise appearance in the recent “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” there will be generations of X-Men fans to come, and this milestone only grows more significant with each passing year.
