Back Cvr; Cliff Rathburn pencils, inks, and signed; image size is 17" x 11"; originally published Nov. 12, 2008
After beginning his career at DC, inker Cliff Rathburn found himself a home as the greyscale inker for the Walking Dead, and also contributed many of the stunning, gory and memorable back cover illustrations for the series. This particular piece contains many winks to the discerning horror fan, from the Vampirella shirt, to the collapsed mohawk and even the biohazard sign and alarming headline posters in the background, this is another in a long line of Rathburn's indelible walker images that have become part and parcel of the beloved series.

Variant Cvr; Chris Giarrusso pencils, inks and signed; image size 11" x 17"
Chris Giarrusso is a Marvel artist known for his child-sized versions of notable characters
Here's a delectable signed piece of work by niche comic artist Chris Giarrusso that pays a handsome tribute to Tony Moore, commemorating Moore's famous cover illustration for The Walking Dead #1. Giarrusso, the creator of the Mini Marvels comic series, is emerging as the king of cute kiddie-style comic illustration, and Walking Dead fans got a kick out of this change-of-pace alternative cover when it was published as a variant to Walking Dead #103. Though it may be a counter-intuitive approach, the piece emphasizes the status of the comic book as a burgeoning phenomenon.

Set the cute-ified part aside and the details of the original cover have been faithfully rendered, showing Sheriff Rick Grimes reloading his rifle in front of a broken shop window, where a pack of hungry walkers is reflected in the shattered glass and the reader knows nothing will ever be the same. Cute walkers are endearing walkers, but scary nonetheless. This published cover is a great collectible for Walking Dead and Giarrusso fans alike.

Rick confronts Hershel about the "Dead Ones"
In early Walking Dead stories, there was still a conflict and question at the center of the story, were the dead dead? On the wrong side, some felt there was a possibility of curing walkers of their disease, or curse, if you will. Eventually, the rules of Darwin prevailed and our protagonists grew to understand that there was no magical cure and they were all destined to share the same fate. All mankind is doomed to hungrily walk, it's that simple. This page addresses that question directly, as Hershel and Rick discuss the fate of Hershel's dead, and his terrible decision to store them in his barn until he can figure out how to help them. This is another great Adlard page from the early days of this Modern Age powerhouse.

Rick confronts Hershel about the "Dead Ones"
n this companion piece to Pg. 1 of TWD #11, we have a heated argument between Rick and Hershel concerning the nature of the pandemic they are just learning to cope with. Charlie Adlard, who took over for Tony Moore as artist for the series in issue #7, masterfully illustrated the page. Rick and Hershel stand apart, both with obvious belief in their convictions. Series creator, Robert Kirkman, wanted to hire Adlard as Moore's replacement but was afraid he could not convince the incredibly gifted and popular artist to work on the book. The stars aligned for Kirkman, and he got his wish, and the rest is comic book history. A piece of that history is available for one of our fortunate clients to make their very own.

Rick and Tyreese find four other survivors in the prison
Rick and Tyreese find four other survivors in the prison they are currently occupying, Dexter, Andrew, Axel, and Thomas Richards. They bring the rest of the group inside the cafeteria where they eat for the first time in quite a while. But, unlike Rick's initial thought, the new survivors reveal they are inmates not guards.

In issue #14 of the Walking Dead, Rick and his group begin the process of clearing out the prison, when they discover four inmates in the cells, and have to decide whether or not to trust these newcomers. In this double-page spread they feed, and then begin to interrogate Axel, Dexter, Thomas and Andrew. The obvious concern and distrust on Rick's face is expertly rendered by Charlie Adlard, who has settled in nicely to his role of artist for the comic after taking the reins a few issues earlier. This is one of the early, pivotal moments in the series, which has repercussions that impact the entire future of the story.

Rick waking up
The third page from the first issue of the blockbuster comic series, illustrated by Tony Moore, shows Sheriff Rick Grimes in his hospital room regaining consciousness from a coma after getting shot in the line of duty. Unpleasant as it may be to stir awake in a hospital, alone and disoriented, he can't begin to imagine the horrific new world he's waking up to. Struggling to regain control of himself, he removes his breathing tube and IV drip and literally falls out of bed before getting his bearings and finding his clothes and badge -- a link to his former life that, unbeknownst to him, has been changed forever by the cataclysmic global infestation by the dead who walk.

Tony Moore's artwork for the first six issues of Walking Dead is now legendary and has been eagerly snapped up by collectors who want to own a piece of what has become a pop-culture juggernaut, going on 175 issues, and inspiring two hit TV series. This classic Tony Moore piece is a perfect foreshadowing of mysteries to be solved and the dread to come.

1st corpse
It just doesn't get any cooler than this, issue #1 of the most popular and valuable Modern Age comic, The Walking Dead. Compounding and adding to the stellar awesomeness of this page is the undeniable fact that this is the first time Rick Grimes, as well as readers, is introduced to a corpse, in all of its gory glory, as it tumbles into Rick's elevator after he awakens from a coma to a planet filled with peril and terror.

Just picture it. You're standing there, bursting with the pride one could only experience by displaying this incredible Tony Moore page to friends and family. The Walking Dead phenomenon has taken mass media by storm and shows no signs of abatement. There is literally no down-side to owning this historical piece of comic book lore. Original art continues to rise in value every year, and when it is a piece from such a revered source, the potential growth on this investment is impossible to predict. But it's up there. Big.

As Rick and Negan fight, Negan manages to break Rick's leg before passing out
Issue #126 of The Walking Dead is the final entry in the "All Out War" story arc, where the conflict that has raged between Rick Grimes' Survivors and Negan's Saviors is resolved. This brutal page depicts Negan snapping Rick's leg shortly after Rick has slashed his throat. The scene is the ultimate crescendo of the struggle between the two leaders, whose rivalry has captured the imaginations of comic book fans and TV viewers alike. As the television show does not always adhere to the plot of the comic, this page may stand alone as an important chapter in the comic book storyline, or could possibly be recreated in an upcoming episode of the landmark series. In either event, this collectible piece of art will be a treasured acquisition for a serious Walking Dead fan. The impressive piece is signed by the artist, Charlie Adlard, whose raw and powerful style is apparent in this un-inked pencil drawing.
