1st panel appearance of Lucifer Morningstar!

From the fourth issue of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comes this absolutely stunning splash page showing Dream’s decent into hell to retrieve his missing helmet. Accompanied by The Demon Etrigan the Sandman is led to a castle where he is greeted by Lucifer Morningstar himself. This page marks Lucifer’s introduction and first appearance in the series, which he would go on to play a major part, resulting in his own spin-off title. The drawing here is remarkable, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg, the only people aside from Gaiman who’s names are on every issue as co-creators, are hitting full stride. The details in this page are a wonder to behold, from the glint of fear in Dream’s face as he lays his eyes upon the majesty of Lucifer’s domain, to the castle itself, seemingly alive and teeming with horror. Sandman pages are among the most sought-after modern pages, and with Netflix set to premiere its long awaited live action adaptation sometime this year expect that interest to grow. This is a stunning page, with a major first appearance, not to be missed. Pen and ink. Art is in excellent condition.
