Highest Graded Wonder Woman Keys at Auction

With roughly half of the top 50 most valuable comics ever sold and with multiple Guinness World Records adorning our gallery wall, ComicConnect has added two of the planet’s most sought-after comics to our upcoming Event Auction #43. All Star Comics #8 CGC 9.4 and Sensation Comics #1 CGC 9.6 feature the first and second appearances of Wonder Woman respectively and are both noted as the single-highest CGC-certified copies in existence.

All Star Comics #8 and Sensation Comics #1 fashioned Wonder Woman into a superstar whose story would continue to be told for generations,” explained Vincent Zurzolo, COO and co-founder of the New York City-based auction house. “DC had a huge hit, one that would rival Batman and Superman both in sales and popularity, and the world had a symbol of feminine strength and resiliency. I’m truly honored to offer these historical documents in Event Auction #43.”

With the blockbuster sequel Wonder Woman 1984 scheduled to hit theaters August 12, 2020, interest in the Amazing Amazon has reached a fever pitch. “Investment collectors are hunting for comics like these two beauties,” Zurzolo continued. “We’ve seen again and again, auction after auction, that successful movies based on comics have shared a symbiotic relationship with first appearance issues with prices driven ever higher. Look for new records come hammer time.”

In response to the fevered enthusiasm for the upcoming blockbuster, ComicConnect is also offering two very special items that will also be available at auction to coincide with the release of the film. Up first is the highest-graded debut of the Cheetah in Wonder Woman #6. Comedienne extraordinaire Kristin Wiig will portray the crazed villainess on screen, and this beautiful, pristine copy of the character’s debut is sure to make a huge splash come auction time. Next, the actual Lasso of Truth wielded by Gal Gadot in Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice will also be up for grabs. This one of a kind, screen-used prop will be sure to turn heads of Princess Diana fans worldwide. Constructed of durable golden braided fibers, this museum-worthy piece exhibits some production wear and handling, but remains an incredibly important collectible from both comic book and cinema history.
