Results of Event Auction XLVI!

The super-hot market got even hotter as a beautifully restored copy of Action Comics #1 CGC 9.0 sold for $452,000 and a high-grade copy of X-Men #1 CGC 9.6 broke $807,000 in last week’s Event Auction #46. Investment collectors have bid with clarity and confidence. Recent market gains have consolidated - which allows buyers to move to these new higher price levels with comfort.

  

More Golden Age sale highlights: Action Comics #7 CGC 7.0 R $31,611, All-Flash Quarterly #1 CGC 9.0 $25,875, All Star Comics #8 CGC 6.5 R $20,500, All American Comics #19 CGC 6.0 $16,311, Pep Comics #22 CBCS 5.0 $73,222, Spitfire #133 CGC 9.8 $36,000, and Detective Comics #73 CGC 7.5 $28,887.

      

Silver Age highlights: three copies of Amazing Fantasy #15 CGC 7.0 $162,000, CGC 4.5 $51,111, and CGC 3.5 $44,500, two additional copies of X-Men #1 CGC 8.5 $114,000 and CGC 5.5 $32,000, Incredible Hulk #1 CGC 8.0 $150,000, Brave and the Bold #30 CGC 9.4 $35,500, Tales of Suspense #39 CGC 8.5 $65,000, Journey into Mystery #83 7.5 $48,944, Fantastic Four #1 CGC 4.5 $24,000, Fantastic Four #4 CBCS 9.2 $23,511, and Fantastic Four #48 CGC 9.6 $29,500.

      

Bronze and Modern: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 CGC 9.4 $58,555, Star Wars #1 CBCS 9.4 Harrison Ford Signature 35 Cent Variant $40,500, and TMNT #1 CGC 7.5 16,100.

    

Original Spider-Man art collectors picked up a Steve Ditko page from Amazing Spider-Man #18 for $133,222 and a John Romita page from Amazing Spider-Man #39 hit $116,000. Also: Captain America #34 cover by Alex Ross $16,100, Spectacular Spider-Man #24 cover by Frank Springer $16,100 and Spectacular Spider-Man (1968) #1 page $21,600.

      

Pulp sales were led by Thrilling Mystery with V3#2 at $4,300, V3#3 $2,500, and V6#1 at $1,550. “Every cover a classic,” Zurzolo added. “Collectors – heads up - pulps are next – it’s time to start adding them to investment portfolios. We have a huge pulp auction coming up that will change the market completely.”
